People gather as the casket is brought to the grave. There is a welcome, often a reading or a few words, then the committal itself, and space for those who wish to place flowers or soil. Practicalities
Ground can be uneven and grass wet, so tell guests to expect it. Bring shade or umbrellas, keep the sound simple because outdoor audio is unreliable, and have seating for anyone who cannot stand for long.
